In an Era of Ubiquitous AI Art, We're Teaching It to Preserve Moments
The globally renowned car brand, VOLVO, known for its safety, plans to host an AI interactive exhibition titled "The Power of Protection," under the theme "VOLVO Protects Me, I Protect _." This exhibition aims to promote the importance of safe driving to car owners in Taiwan. We are honored to use interactive design to create a profound journey of safeguarding moments for users, conveying the precious significance of safe driving.
For us, an AI capable of drawing is like holding a key to another dimension, opening up endless possibilities for interaction. Ideas that seemed impossible suddenly feel worth exploring. "Why not let the AI that can draw become a time-preserving artist?" Thus, as we watched AI display its prowess, we adjusted our plan for preserving moments. We invited the AI artist to join this heartfelt journey of protecting moments, helping us safeguard these fleeting yet precious times for car owners.

Capturing Happiness with AI Portraits
"The most important thing is not just about oneself." In the closing scene of the promotional video, the actor **Chang Chen not only succinctly highlighted the gentle promise of safe driving but also awakened our imagination about protection. Once there are passengers on life's journey, the scenery seems different. The once mundane daily life starts to hold moments of "I don't want to forget this!" Yet, like this sigh, these precious times often slip away in the hustle and bustle of life. So, let's try to capture and preserve the beautiful moments of life with happiness, using AI to keep them.
At the exhibition, three "VOLVO AI Portrait Artists" act as assistants in safeguarding beautiful moments, accompanying each car owner on their journey to find happiness. Starting with selecting comforting ambient music, they guide users to slowly revisit memories. The AI portrait artists then poetically describe and illustrate the precious moments of happiness for the car owners, using technology and art to reinforce these beautiful times.
During the brief but profound exhibition period, we protected countless moments of happiness. Whether it was a "lazy afternoon with two British Shorthair cats," the tranquility of daily life, or "the daughter's first day of school saying 'Goodbye, Daddy,'" even the most routine memories were well preserved in the fast-spinning world under the guardianship of the "VOLVO AI Portrait Artists."

The Rigorous Training Before Preserving Moments
Anyone who has dealt with AI knows that while you can get AI to draw, it's challenging to make it provide "appropriate" feedback. An untrained AI is like a versatile blank slate – useful but directionless. The AI training process can be described as finding common ground with a stranger; meaningful interaction only happens through repeated adjustments and corrections.
The training goal for the "VOLVO AI Portrait Artists" was not only to produce fluent prose and story-like descriptions but also to refine the AI's illustration strokes. We tested various writing arrangements, dissected stroke depths and widths, and experimented with ink densities until we found the perfect casual style. Only then was the AI deemed ready.
The Deepest Brand Resonance
To create the most profound brand impact, not only did the visual style of the AI portrait artists draw from the promotional video where the protagonist, Chang Chen, sketched a family scene at the seaside in his notebook, but it also followed VOLVO's consistent Scandinavian, minimalist style. Using simple lines and hand-drawn touches as the core, we extended these warm scenes into poetic and heartwarming time capsules, creating a poetic yet warm feeling for the car owners.
