2019 marked the 50th anniversary of U.S. landing on the moon. Hsin-Chien Huang and New York artist Laurie Anderson co-created the moon-landing project, using VR to return to the moon from the perspectives of science, mythology, literature, politics and art.
In “Moon Landing” VR work, IF Plus engaged in creating parts of the scenes, operating the videos, developing the full-body wearable device, and the moon-landing gloves. Participants simulated the feeling of an astronaut in a spacesuit by wearing the backpack with PC inside that controlled the VR operation. During the 15-20 minutes of experience, it realized a poetic and tranquil personal journey. The surreal floating space walking “was even like the movie ‘Gravity’, in which it simulated flying over the moon by jet propulsion”. Premiered at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, and it planned to participate in the Venice Film Festival next year.
